DOUBLE EFFECT EVAPORATOR MAKE : CREATIVE LAB MODEL NO:CLHT-30
DESCRIPTION:
Evaporation deals with the concentration of a non-volatile solute from a solution by the removal of required amount of volatile solvent. Usually the solvent is water. By vaporizing a part of the solvent, useful product i.e. the concentrated solution or thick liquor is produced and the vapour is discarded. Long tube evaporators are usually used for the concentration of foamy liquids. The set-up consists of stainless steel tubes surrounded by a stainless steel jacket and fitted with accumulator. Dilute solution is feed to tubes. Steam from a steam generator is supplied to shell to concentrate the dilute feed solution to a desired level. The jacket is fitted with a steam trap and the condensate is collected at the end of trap. The vapours of volatile solvent are condensed in a shell & tube type condenser and the balance non-volatile solute collected in the accumulator is recycled through the evaporator.

Material and Heat Balance.
Economy and the capacity of the evaporator.
Overall heat transfer co-efficient.

LIQUID-LIQUID EXTRACTION IN A PACKED TOWER
DESCRIPTION:
The set-up consists of a glass column packed with Rasching rings. Continuous counter current contacts between the solvent and solute phases is made, which results into extract and raffinate streams. Flow meters (Rotameters) are used to note the flow of solvent & solute respectively. The continuous and dispersed phase streams are metered and derived from separate containers. The total set-up is housed in a well-designed rigid structure. The structure also supports tanks, piping, Rotameters, panel and other units.
EXPERIMENTATION:
To determine overall mass transfer co-efficient based on continuous & dispersed phase.
To determine individual “Height of Transfer Unit” based on continuous & dispersed phase.

SPRAY TOWER MAKE :CREATIVE LAB MODEL NO: CLMT-03
DESCRIPTION                                                                         
The experimental set-up of Spray Tower consists of a glass column provided with necessary accessories. It operates on a semi-batch mode. Fine spray nozzle is fitted at the top. Feeds are metered by Rotameters and derived from separate feed tanks. The liquid-liquid interface can be maintained by controlling the flow rate of extract with the help of needle valve provided on Rotameter. Total set-up is housed in a rigid structure. The structure also supports tanks, piping, Rotameters and other unit.

To study the effect of the dispersed phase flow rate on overall volumetric mass transfer coefficient.

SOLID-LIQUID EXTRACTION BONOTTO TYPE MAKE MODEL:CLMT-04
DESCRIPTION:-
The setup consists of Bonnotto type extractor of slotted circular plates arranged one above the other in opposite radial opening. The solids are introduced at the top through a hopper spread over the top plate by a rack and pushed to slot to fall to the next plate below and so on to the bottom of the column. The solvent is introduced near the bottom of the column and it flow upward counter-currently to the solids. A pump supplies the solvent and flow rate is monitored by means of a Rotameter. At the bottom of column a screw conveyor arrangement is done to remove the extracted solids driven by means of an electric motor. Solvent feed tank is kept in a bath fitted with heater and digital temperature controller is used to maintain the constant temperature.

To determine the efficiency of a continuous counter-current Solid-Liquid Extraction system.

DESCRIPTION:-
This setup is designed to study the performance characteristics of Solvent extraction of a particular component from a packed bed of solid material. The apparatus allows study of such systems aswater/inorganic salts, water/sugar bed, methylene chloride/vegetable oil etc. The glass column is fitted with SS mesh to support the solid material. The solvent is introduced near the bottom of the column and it flows upward counter-currently to the solids. A pump supplies the solvent and flow rate is monitored by means of a Rotameter. Solvent feed tank is kept in a bath fitted with heater and digital temperature controller is used tomaintain the constant temperature.
EXPERIMENTATION:
To study the effect of various system parameters like, solvent temperature, solvent rate and particle size on the %age recovery of oil from solid.
