PIN ON DISC WEAR APPARATUS
DESCRIPTION 
The Pin and Disc wear Apparatus consists of a steel disc whose top surface is case hardened and
ground. The disc is rotated by a single ph. Induction motor at 3 different speeds. The test pin is
inserted in a pin guide so that one end of pin touches the rotating disc. The pin guide is mounted on a cantilever to which spring balance is attached. The pin is inserted in the pin guide. The disc is set to rotate at the required speed. Load is put over the pin and wear of the pin is measured.

HYDRODYNAMICS OF PACKED BED MAKE : CREATIVE LAB MODEL NO:CLMTL-02
DESCRIPTION:
The set up is capable to study the loading and flooding characteristics. It is a packed column packed with Rasching Rings where the Air is counter currently fed to the column. Liquid holdup in the column increases the weight of column and also reduces the effective porosity of packing. This reduction in porosity decreases the gas velocity, increases the pressure drop and changes the value of mass transfer co-efficient. The water is fed from the top of the column and loading & flooding characteristic are observed on various flow rates of Air and Water. The apparatus is closed circuit type provided with suitable capacity tank, pump, necessary pipe lines walls & rotametres for water & air to measure the flow rate of fluids.

To study the loading and flooding characteristics in a packed column.

Water Supply and Drain.

RING & BALL APPARATUS ELECTRICAL
 Description:

Ring and Ball Apparatus Electrical is used to determine the softening point of the bituminous material. Softening point is that temperature at which the sample or specimen taken for test becomes the soft enough that allows the steel ball of certain or specific dimension to fall at a required distance under defined test condition.

 Specification:

Supplied with heater and energy control regulator for electrical heating.

Comes with electric motor driven Stirrer.

Supplied with a bath of heat resistance for each unit.

Voltage: 230 V A.C. of 50 Hz with a single phase supply.


DUCTILITY TESTING APPARATUS
 Description:
In flexible pavement construction, bitumen binders are used. It is important that bituminous material forms ductile thin film around the aggregates, which serves as a binder. The binder material not of sufficient ductility renders pervious pavement surface and leads to development of cracks. Therefore it is important to carry out the ductility tests on bituminous material. Ductility is defined as distance in cms. to which a standard briquette of bitumen can be stretched before the thread breaks. The briquette is stretched at a rate 0 0 of 50mm/minute +/-2.5 mm per minute at a temperature of 27 C+/-0.5 C.
 
Specification:
The apparatus consists of a Water bath with a thermostatic heater, and a circulating pump to maintain uniform water temperature. One half of the briquette moulds in fixed on a fixed plate in the water bath, the other half of the briquette mould is fixed to a carrier which slides over a rotating threaded shaft with a clutch.
The motor and gears to rotate the shaft are housed in a cabinet fixed above the other and of the bath. A pointer fixed to the carrier moves over a scale graduated from 0-110 cm x 1mm fixed on the bath with “0”(Zero) of the scale towards the fixed plate slide.
 The rotating shaft has 2 speeds of travel for the bracket, 5cm/min. and 1cm/min. selected by a clutch. Water bath inside is aluminum, it is an insulated water bath. Water bath is provided with a drain.
 A heater with thermostatic control is fixed inside the water bath. Control switches for motor, stirrer, heater and indicator lamps are fixed at a convenient place on the water bath. Complete with three briquette mould and one base plate, all made of brass. Operates on 230Volts A.C. single phase.
  
 

STRIPPING VALUE APPARATUS
 Description:
It is used for determining Striping Value of bituminous mixes having aggregate size 1.0mm to 75 microns.
 
Specification:
A circular tray rotates in a vertical plane at a rate of approximately 100 rpm by an electrical 0 geared motor1 4 bottles of approximately 400cc are mounted on this circular tray at an angle of 90 to each other with their mouth towards centre of the tray. A time switch is provided. Suitable for operation on 230Volts A.C. Single phase.
