VENTURIMETER, ORIFICEMETER & ROTAMETER TEST RIG

DESCRIPTION :
The apparatus consists of three pipelines emerging out from a common manifold.  One pipe line contain a Venturimeter, second contains an Orifice and third pipe line contains a Rota meter. The pressure tapings from the Venturimeter and Orifice meter are taken to differential manometer to measure pressure difference. The Venturimeter, Orifice meter and Rota meter are connected in parallel and any one of them can be put in operation by operating valves provided at the downstream. Present set-up is self-contained water re-circulating unit, provided with a sump tank and a centrifugal pump. Flow control valve and by-pass valve are fitted in water line to conduct the experiment on different flow rates. Flow rate of water is measured with the help of measuring tank & stop watch.
EXPERIMENTATION:
To determine the co-efficient of discharged through Venturimeter and orifice meter. 
To measure discharge through Venturimeter, Orifice meter and Rota meter
To calibrate the Rotameter.
UTILITIES REQUIRED:
Electricity supply: Single Phase, 220 V AC, 50 Hz, 5-15 amp combined socket with earth connection.
Water Supply (Initial Fill).
Floor Drain required.
Floor Area Required:  1.5 m x 0.75 m.

NOZZLE METER TEST RIG

DESCRIPTION:
The apparatus consists of a Nozzle meter made of stainless-steel houses in Acrylic Test Section. Present set-up is self-contained water re-circulating unit, provided with a sump tank and a centrifugal pump. Flow control valve and by-pass valve are fitted in water line to conduct the experiment on different flow rates. Flow rate of water is measured with the help of measuring tank and stop watch.
EXPERIMENTATION:
To measure discharge through Nozzle meter.
To calculate co-efficient of discharge for nozzle meter.

PITOT TUBE SETUP

DESCRIPTION:
A Pitot tube is used to measure the local velocity at a given point in the flow stress. A pitot tube of standard design made of copper/SS is supplied and is fixed below vernier scale. The vernier scale is capable to measure the position of Pitot tube in transparent section.  The pipe has a flow control valve to regulate the flow. A U-tube manometer is provided to determine the velocity head. Present set-up is self-contained water re-circulating unit, provided with a sump tank and a centrifugal pump etc. Flow control valve and by-pass valve are fitted in water line to conduct the experiment on different flow rates. Flow rate of water is measured with the help of measuring tank and stop watch.
EXPERIMENTATION:
To find the point velocity at the center of a tube for different flow rates of water and calibrate the Pitot tube.
To plot velocity profile across the cross section of pipe.
